Netflix showcased The Defenders' four idiosyncratic personalities – Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) – in the Marvel adaptation's debut trailer. "You four: the devil of Hell's Kitchen, the smart-ass detective, the righteous ex-con and the kid with the glowing fist," a character describes in voiceover.
In the show's first season, which premieres globally on August 18th, the disparate Defenders unite against an underground assassin collective dubbed The Hand. "The war for New York is here," a voice intones, "so get your shit together."
Throughout the clip, soundtracked by a remix of Nirvana's "Come As You Are," Netflix previews the superheroes' unique abilities in a series of highly choreographed fight scenes. It also shows the quartet's skillful banter, as they crack jokes about each other around a restaurant table.
Netflix first previewed The Defenders last summer with an impressionistic teaser at San Diego Comic-Con.
