It's been nearly a year since J.J. Abrams unveiled the first footage from Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, and now — less than a month out from the blockbuster’s release — we finally have our first clip from a scene of the finished film. Following a barrage of TV spots, this 15-second peek at an action sequence from early in the movie contextualizes some of the shots that have appeared in the footage we've seen so far.
Scored to a snippet of John Williams' new music, the clip finds franchise newbies Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisey Ridley) suddenly under attack from a TIE Fighter. As the duo sprint across the desert towards an escape ship, loyal droid BB-8 rolling along in the sand behind them, Rey informs her new companion that she's got the skills to fly them to safety. Unfortunately for our heroes, the meddling TIE Fighter has other plans.
The Force Awakens premieres in theaters on December 18th. It's the first of at least a few new Star Wars movies in the works, including next year's anthology film, Star Wars: Rogue One.
