A balmy mother-daughter trip to Ecuador is derailed by a kidnapping in the latest trailer for Snatched, a comedy featuring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. The movie marks Hawn's return to the big screen after a 15-year absence.
The trailer initially suggests a peaceful movie full of wisecracks and emotional breakthroughs, as Schumer and Hawn work out their differences poolside over strong, cold drinks. Hawn smothers Schumer in sunscreen, and the two argue about the dangers of boozing with handsome strangers.
The nature of their bonding takes a sudden, violent turn when the pair are waylaid by armed bandits. The two are soon sprinting through the jungle and jumping between buildings; Schumer even wallops a bad guy with shovel. The pair are joined onscreen by Wanda Sykes, Joan Cusack and Ike Barinholtz.
Snatched was written by Katie Dippold, who previously penned the scripts for the action comedies The Heat and Ghostbusters. Director Jonathan Levine is best known for helming the Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt vehicles The Night Before and 50/50.
Snatched is due out May 12 – just in time for Mother's Day weekend.
