Following speculation that this year's Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler might jump ship for the Oscars, NBC confirmed today that the pair would indeed be returning to the Golden Globes for at least two more years. When the duo took over emcee duties from Ricky Gervais, who had doled out backhanded compliments and mordent jabs at Hollywood's elite from 2010 to 2012, they earned the show a six-year ratings high, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ironically, Poehler also made a now-prescient joke in the opening to his year's show, which is put on annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and honors those working in film and television. In reference to Gervais' barbed comments at actors, she joked, "We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight, because as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times."

"Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season," said Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of alternative and late night programming. "We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years."

The pair, who developed their chemistry on Saturday Night Live as "Weekend Update" anchors, also made an appearance together at this year's Emmy Awards. Although that show was broadcast on CBS, the Golden Globes announcement closely aligns the pair once again with NBC. In addition to Poehler's Parks and Recreation, Fey is reportedly developing a new series for NBCUniversal.
