AMC has renewed the The Walking Dead for another gruesome, zombie-filled season, a move the network's own president Charlie Collier called "one of the most anti-climactic renewal announcements ever," TV Line reports. Season four showrunner Scott Gimple will continue at the leading the zombie troops each week.

Indeed the news of a fifth season should come as no surprise to fans of the hit show, whose recent season four premiere drew a record-breaking 16.1 million viewers -- and became the biggest non-sports telecast to hit cable, ever.
