Judge: Cee Lo Green
Rank: 1
Team (in ranked order): The Thompson sisters, Nakia, Vicci Martinez, Curtis Grimes
Why: We've been looking forward to Cee Lo getting his hands dirty, and last night he was elbow-deep, giving the Thompson sisters a high-risk challenge with the 1940s ditty "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy." Their performance put every other reality singing show to shame, although their real challenge now is coming off as real people, and not just Cee Lo's excellent vintage wind-up dolls. Nakia has the coolest voice on the team, and he did it justice with another great Cee Lo pick, "Sex on Fire." Vicci Martinez and Curtis Grimes showcased strong pipes on "Jolene" and "Addicted to Love," but they still need personalities to match.
'The Voice' Recap: Sisters Rule Girls Night
Judge: Adam Levine
Rank: 2
Team: Casey Weston, Devon Barley, Javier Colon, Jeff Jenkins
Why: Adam lost the lead this week to Cee Lo, whose team was too good to beat. Still, he's got four solid talents, with Casey Weston holding court as the most unusual voice in a team of smooth-voiced crooners. Her "Blackhorse and the Cherry Tree" was simple, classy and more charming than her teammates' attempts. The rest are more or less in dead heat, with Devon edging ahead only on the grounds of potential. Javier and Jeff sang nearly flawless versions of "Angel," and "Jesus Take The Wheel" respectively last night, but if Devon works on his pitch, he might be interesting enough to give Casey a run for her money.
