Dunder Mifflin's longtime Scranton boss appears unlikely to return for the series finale of The Office, Deadline reports. Steve Carell's Michael Scott left the show after seven seasons, ditching Scranton for Colorado to marry HR rep Holly Flax. But NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt said yesterday that a return for Carell was unlikely.
The 25 Greatest Moments from The Office
"We’re hopeful but I don’t think [Carell] will," Greenblatt told reporters at the TV Critics Association winter press tour. "He left in the way he wanted to leave, and he and Greg talked about it, and I don’t think he will. There’s maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision would be compromising his schedule."
The ninth and final season of The Office resumes January 10th.
