The second installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy is titled The Last Jedi, according to the series' official site. Written and directed by Rian Johnson, the follow-up to 2015's The Force Awakens will hit theaters December 15th.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Episode VIII in the franchise) will have Mark Hamill reprising his iconic role as Luke Skywalker. Carrie Fisher will also be in the film. The actress finished filming her scenes as General Leia Organa before her death in December.
The cast will also include Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO). Both Benici Del Toro and Laura Dern will appear in the film in unspecified roles.
Last year, Disney teased the film, one of Rolling Stone's 50 Most Anticipated of 2017, with a production announcement featuring an alternate look at The Force Awakens' cliffhanger ending.
