It's turning out to be quite an eventful year for Seth Meyers. The Saturday Night Live anchor, who was recently announced as the new host of Late Night, just got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Alexi Ashe, Us Weekly reports.
Meyers started dating Ashe, a human rights lawyer, after meeting her at a wedding several years ago. A source told Us Weekly that Meyers had been planning to propose for a while. "With Late Night, his schedule will be slowly easing up," the source explains. "He wanted to do it after SNL wrapped [because] he didn't want to be an absentee fiance. Her family loves him."
It was announced in May that Meyers would be replacing Jimmy Fallon as the Late Night host while Fallon moves up to take over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno. Meyers, who has anchored SNL's "Weekend Update" for seven years and been the show's head writer for eight seasons, recently bid fellow castmate Bill Hader farewell on the show with a grand wedding to Hader's character Stefon.
