For the first time since Charlton Heston in 1972, the Oscars host will announce the nominees when Seth MacFarlane joins Emma Stone on January 10th to unveil the candidates for the 85th Academy Awards.
Q&A: Seth MacFarlane on Hosting the Oscars, Being Hated by 'South Park'
"It's about finding that balance between doing what I do but acknowledging that this is the Academy Awards, not the roast of Donald Trump," MacFarlane told Rolling Stone last month regarding his hosting duties. "It's walking that line between old-fashioned showmanship and allowing it to be contemporary with a little bit of bite. Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal are two hosts who walked that line."
The Oscars have been straying from tradition this year, also choosing to feature a tribute to the James Bond series, which they have historically overlooked. The Academy Awards will take place February 24th.
