Hugh Jackman looks haggard and worn down in the new trailer for Logan, which is supposedly the last movie starring the actor as the Marvel character Wolverine. "The world is not the same as it was," he intones wearily at the start of the clip. He appears to be one of the last X-Men left, living in some sort of isolated smelting plant and nearly ready to call it quits. Johnny Cash's sobering cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" plays in the background, adding to the bleakness.
But when a young woman arrives with trucks full of heavily armed bad guys in hot pursuit, Wolverine's old instincts return, and by the end of the Logan trailer, Jackman is sprinting through the wilderness in a torn tank top and wreaking havoc on his enemies. He is joined in the film by Patrick Stewart, who plays Professor Xavier in the X-Men series. The movie is directed by James Mangold, who served the same role on 2013's Wolverine.
Logan is slated to hit theaters March 3, 2017.
