See Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson Spar in 'Three Billboards' Trailer

Martin McDonagh-directed film also stars Sam Rockwell, Peter Dinklage and John Hawkes

Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson star in the Martin McDonagh-directed 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' film.

In Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Frances McDormand plays Mildred Hayes, a mother seeking answers and justice following her daughter's unsolved murder.

Written and directed by Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths), the film also stars Woody Harrelson as chief of police William Willoughby.

In the NSFW, Red Band trailer, Hayes is frustrated with the town's police department after they've not made progress in her daughter's case after seven months. So, she uses billboards, two of which say "Still no arrests?" and "How Come, Chief Willoughby?," to spur some action. But the town does not take too kindly to her confrontation nor do the police.

But she's ready to spar. Between humorous scenes that include a litany of swear words directed at cops, reporters and her dentist, to lobbing Molotov cocktails and kicking teenagers in the groin, there's a lot of heart in the clip. "It seems to me the police department is too busy torturing black folks to solve actual crimes," she tells a reporter, which points to themes of social inequity.

The cast also includes Sam Rockwell, John Hawkes, Peter Dinklage, Abbie Cornish and Caleb Landry Jones. A release date for the film has not yet been announced, but it's expected to open later this year.
