Russell Brand has been sentenced to 20 hours of community service and fined $500 by a New Orleans judge, the BBC reports. Brand was sentenced over a March incident in which he allegedly took a photographer's cell phone and threw it out a window after the photographer tried to take his photo. Brand had pleaded not guilty and must pay the fine and complete the community service by the end of August, though the community service does not have to be done in New Orleans.
Brand made light of the incident in March, tweeting, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
