Oscars Will Move to March in 2014

Academy Awards ceremony avoids conflict with the Winter Olympics

The Oscars will shift its show date next year, moving from its usual February slot to March 2nd, 2014, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced today. The rescheduling will avoid any conflict with the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, which will take place from February 7th-23rd. Nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced on January 16th.

The 2015 Academy Awards will revert back to the usually scheduled month and its ceremony is set for February 22nd. The 85th Oscars took place on February 24th this year, with Argo taking top honors for Best Picture.
