MTV has suspended production on Buckwild after Shain Gandee, one of the stars of the reality series, was found dead yesterday near Sissonville, West Virginia.

Gandee, 21, and two other men were discovered in his Ford Bronco, which was partially submerged in mud about a mile up a wooded trail near his house, according to an updated report from MTV. Gandee was behind the wheel. His uncle, David Gandee, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27, were also in the vehicle, which required a bulldozer to be removed from the mud.

The three had last been seen early Sunday morning in a local bar, where they told other patrons there were going off-roading, or "mudding."

The first season of Buckwild averaged 3.2 million viewers per episode and was the top-rated show on cable TV with viewers between the ages of 12 and 34, according to The New York Times. MTV had begun working on a second season last week, but has suspended production indefinitely.

The network said yesterday, "We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident," describing Gandee as having had "a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met."
