AMC has set a date for the return of Mad Men. The Los Angeles Times reports that the first half of the drama's final season will premiere on Sunday, April 13th at 10 p.m. EST.

Following its strategy for the last run of Breaking Bad, AMC is splitting Mad Men's seventh and final season into two seven-episode halves, spread across two years. "We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience," the show's creator, Matthew Weiner, explained this past September when the split-season was announced. "The writers, cast and other artists welcome this unique manner of ending this unique experience."

The cable network also announced a debut date for its Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul. The spinoff, which centers on Bob Odenkirk's sleazy criminal lawyer Saul Goodman before his involvement with Walter White's meth empire, will premiere some time in November. A more specific date will be announced later.

"It will be Saul Goodman’s world, it won’t be Walter White’s, and it will have a different feel, even though there will be some overlap on the Venn Diagram that exists between Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul," the show's creator, Vince Gilligan recently said, while noting that he would love to include Breaking Bad actors Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks in the new series. "But it will have to succeed on its own terms as its own show. If it doesn’t, it won’t be satisfying, and satisfaction is the key word. We want to satisfy."
