'Lincoln' Leads Golden Globe Nominations With Seven

'Django Unchained' and 'Argo' are each up for five awards

Lincoln continues to dominate the early awards season, picking up seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Drama and Best Director for Steven Spielberg, along with acting honors for stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field.

In the Best Drama category, Lincoln faces Argo, Django Unchained, Life of Pi and Zero Dark Thirty. In the Best Picture, Musical or Comedy category are The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Les Misérables, Moonrise Kingdom, Silver Linings Playbook and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

Ben Affleck's Argo also made a strong showing, nabbing five nominations, as did Quentin Tarrantino's Civil War-era western, Django Unchained: Both scored Best Director nods, and Django's Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz are each up for Best Supporting Actor, as is Alan Arkin for Argo

Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelow's Osama bin Laden manhunt movie, garnered four nominations, while Tom Hopper's film adaptation of Les Misérables found itself with three, including acting nods for Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway. 

Adele was nominated for Best Original Song for her Bond theme "Skyfall," which will compete against Taylor Swift's "Safe & Sound" from The Hunger Games, Jon Bon Jovi's "Not Running Anymore" from Stand Up Guys, and two songs from Les Miz

Over in TV land, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey and The Newsroom are all up for Best Drama; while Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Episodes, Modern Family and Smash will compete for Best Comedy or Musical.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the 70th Annual Golden Globes, which is set to air January 13th.
