Lenny Kravitz has landed a role in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' hit novel The Hunger Games. The rocker is set to play Cinna, a stylist who designs the elaborate costumes worn by the story's teen protagonist Katniss Everdeen in a televised arena battle. Cinna also becomes a confidant to Everdeen, who will be played by Jennifer Lawrence.

Kravitz won the part after director Gary Ross was impressed by his performance as a nurse in Precious. "It was quiet and strong and understated and open-hearted," Ross told the Los Angeles Times. "All qualities which define this character."
The Hunger Games, the first movie in a planned trilogy based on Collins' best-selling books, will hit theaters in March.
