John Legend has joined ABC's new singing competition Duets as a mentor, Billboard reports. He will replace Lionel Richie, who had to step down due to "personal scheduling conflicts."

Legend will join fellow mentors Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles. On the show, each mentor will find two undiscovered singers and the duos will compete, with the winner receiving a recording contract.
