A new screenplay based on Hillary Clinton is reportedly in development in Hollywood, according to Politico. Rodham, penned by South Korean newcomer Young Il Kim, takes place in the Seventies, tracking a young Clinton in her twenties as she juggles the start of her career and her boyfriend. But hers was no ordinary coming of age: Clinton was the youngest attorney on the House Judiciary Committee that prepared to impeach President Richard Nixon, and that boyfriend was future husband Bill Clinton. Hollywood executives have voted Rodham the fourth hottest unproduced script in their annual Black List.

"There's this incredible irony that she worked on the impeachment process that was used against her husband," said Kim, referring to Bill Clinton's scandalous affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. "But it's also really a journey of a woman who was torn between her personal desires and her professional ambition – both literally pulled her thousands of miles apart, because Bill did not want to leave Arkansas, and she did not want to leave Washington D.C."

Kim was also intrigued by the idea of looking beyond Clinton's public face.

"I've always seen her in the public light and formal and buttoned-down, and here she is making out with Bill and graduating college and trying to find a job," he continued. "It's them starting off and meeting and falling in love and facing all the challenges and struggles that everybody else does."

Kim says he was inspired by a May 2011 photograph of Clinton in the Situation Room with President Obama and others, watching the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. That photograph reminded Kim of another, and sparked Kim's further interest. "There was this photo of Hillary when she was in her twenties with coke-bottle glasses and long, hippie hair," he said. "And it was those two images that really made me realize that this would be a great way into this story just to focus on a moment in her life when she's in her twenties, and she doesn't know what she wants to do with her life."
