True Detective will star Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey as detectives entangled in a 17-year manhunt for a serial killer in Louisiana, according to Nola. It will have an eight-episode first season that will preview different investigations in upcoming seasons. The first season will follow the investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995, a case that was reopened in 2012.

HBO released a teaser clip for the series in June. The first trailer for the series will air this Sunday before the season premiere of Boardwalk Empire.
