George R.R. Martin might be exploring more than Westeros and Essos in the near future: Deadline Hollywood reports the Game of Thrones creator has signed a two-year deal with HBO that will see him develop and produce new projects for HBO, along with continuing as co-executive producer on the show adapted from his fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire.

Martin is no TV newbie: before writing the Game of Thrones books, Martin wrote for the Eighties revival of The Twilight Zone and the original Beauty and the Beast TV series.

Season Three of Game of Thrones premieres March 31st, and HBO last month released production stills from the new episodes. The show has also teamed with Brewery Ommegang in upstate New York for a series of themed beers, starting with Iron Throne Blonde Ale to coincide with Season Three.
