Jack Bauer's work isn't done yet: 24 is returning for a 12-episode run set for summer of next year. Kiefer Sutherland will reprise his role of counter-terrorist agent Bauer in 24: Live Another Day, as the storyline resumes several years after the events of the last season, which wrapped up in 2010.
"The response to 24 is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before," Sutherland said in a statement on 24's Facebook page. "To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from [executive producer] Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint. . . . Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon."
The show picked up 73 Emmy nods over eight seasons, winning the award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Sutherland was nominated for seven Emmys, also winning one for Outstanding Lead Actor – Drama Series in 2006. The latest season found Bauer dealing with an assassination plot targeting an Islamic leader.
