First 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Commercial Raises Intrigue
The first 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' commercial has arrived with new footage

With just over a month before Star Wars: The Force Awakens flies into movie theaters, the film's first television commercial has started circulating. The 30-second spot, which debuted on Twitter, doesn't offer much in terms of new footage – Luke Skywalker still doesn't make an appearance – but it further cements Daisy Ridley's Rey as the focal point of Episode VII. In the commercial, Rey is seen firing a laser gun and, possibly, piloting the Millennium Falcon. Why is she captaining Han Solo's ship? Fans will find out when The Force Awakens arrives December 18th.

While the commercial is light on visual surprises, the ad's voiceover is revealing. "I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people. I see your eyes. I know your eyes," a mysterious voice says over a montage of many of the saga's new heroes. Internet speculation suggests that the heavily accented voice could be that of actress Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata, a CGI-based character who is a "pirate" in the upcoming chapter.

The television commercial comes on the heels of the final theatrical trailer and the film's Japanese preview.
