The uproarious first trailer for Ghostbusters, the reboot of the beloved comedy series that now boasts an all-female paranormal-hunting crew, has arrived. As evidenced by the preview, the reboot promises creepy ghosts, retooled proton weapons and plenty of ectoplasm.

The film takes place 30 years after the original Ghostbusters team saved Manhattan; as Kristen Wiig's particle physics expert explains when ghost sightings spike in frequency, "Someone is creating a device that amplifies paranormal activity."

Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon play the three scientists that form the new Ghostbusters before they're joined by Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones, a tough subway booth operator. "I'm joining the club," Jones' character tells them. "You guys are really smart about this science stuff but I know New York. And I can borrow a car from my uncle," referring to the funeral hearse that becomes the new Ecto-1.

While original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd (but not Rick Moranis) appear in the reboot – albeit as completely different characters – the only thing from the Eighties franchise to make a cameo in the new trailer is the series' lovable green ghost Slimer.

The new Ghostbusters bursts into theaters on July 15th.
