Yet another retirement is coming for Kenny Powers: HBO announced today that Eastbound & Down will end after its next and fourth season.
The crass comedy, which stars Danny McBride as the lovable and despicable baseball player Powers, was initially rumored to be ending after its third season in 2012. However, the show's creative team decided on a last go-round to finish off the story, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new eight episodes will kick off on September 29th, three weeks after the premiere of Boardwalk Empire's fourth season.
McBride is also one of the stars of the post-apocalyptic comedy This Is the End (with Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill) as well as an executive producer of Chozen, the first original series for the new network FXX. The animated comedy centers around a gay white rapper and his post-prison life – just the kind of weirdo stuff McBride does best.
