Christian Bale flew to Aurora, Colorado, today and met with victims of the Dark Knight Rises mass shooting, reports the Denver Post.
The star of the superhero franchise visited the Medical Center of Aurora on Tuesday afternoon and met with seven people recovering from Thursday night's tragedy, as well as doctors, emergency medical technicians and city police officers. He was joined by wife Sibi Blazic and requested that the media not be notified of the event; he appeared as himself and did not represent Warner Brothers, the studio that released Dark Knight.
"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," Bill Voloch, interim president of Medical Center of Aurora, told the Post. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."
The Medical Center of Aurora admitted seven patients on Thursday night after the shooting at the film screening, where James Holmes allegedly killed 12 people and injured 58 others. Bale released a statement on Saturday that said, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
