What a day Ben Affleck had: he won Best Director for Argo last night at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, just hours after the Oscars snubbed him in the same category. Reuters reports that Affleck accepted the award by joking, "I'd like to thank the Academy."
Argo also won Best Picture, while Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for his role in Lincoln and Jessica Chastain won Best Actress for Zero Dark Thirty. Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables, and Philip Seymour Hoffman took home Best Supporting Actor for The Master.
Silver Linings Playbook, which loaded up on Oscar nominations yesterday, won the Acting Ensemble category and swept the comedy awards with wins in Best Comedy, Best Actor in a Comedy for Bradley Cooper and Best Actress in a Comedy for Jennifer Lawrence.
