Andy and Lana Wachowski will produce Sense8, a new show for Netflix that will find them working with longtime showrunner and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Stracynski, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While there isn't much info about the show, the sci-fi drama was described as a global story of "minds linked and souls hunted." The show's 10 episodes are slated to debut in late 2014.
Lana Wachowski Opens Up About Difficult Past and Attempted Suicide
"We've wanted to work with Joe Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy," the Wachowskis said in a statement. "Several years ago, we had a late-night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born."
Best known for their film efforts including the Matrix trilogy, V for Vendetta and, most recently, Cloud Atlas, Sense8 marks the Wachowski's first foray into television. The show will join the growing ranks of Netflix's streaming series, including House of Cards and the upcoming Arrested Development reboot.
