The much-anticipated Anchorman sequel has been given an official release date of December 20th, 2013, according to tweets from writer and director Adam McKay and producer Judd Apatow, who quoted Ron Burgundy's self-appraisal by noting, "It is kind of a big deal."

McKay has been working with Will Ferrell on the script that includes parts for all the principal leads from the first film (including Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Christina Appelgate). Saturday Night Live alumna Kristen Wiig could also join the cast as the love interest of Carell's character, Brick Tamland, the lovably doofy weatherman.
Eight years after the release of the original, Ferrell announced the sequel in style, donning Ron Burgundy's trademark scarlet suit and taking the stage on Conan – making sure to bust out a little little jazz flute too, of course.
