The year's ghastliest month just got a whole lot spookier: American Horror Story will make its return to FX on October 9th. The 13-part Coven will focus on witches and witchcraft in the over 300 year aftermath of the Salem witch trials; it'll center on a New Orleans-based coven as they protect themselves amongst a dwindling population.
Jessica Lange – who played Constance Langdon in American Horror Story and Sister Jude in American Horror Story: Asylum – returns for Coven, as do Frances Conroy (Moira O'Hara in American Horror Story) and Taissa Farmiga (Violet Harmon in the first mini-series). Meanwhile, Kathy Bates is among the newcomers for Coven.
American Horror Story: Asylum looks to have a big day at the 2013 Emmys on September 22nd; it's up for 17 total awards, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and, for Lange, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.
