6. 'Ratatouille'

The good people at Pixar certainly don't always play it safe. A movie about a rat who dreams of becoming a gourmet chef hardly seems like a surefire hit, and naming it after a traditional French dish that's difficult to even pronounce makes the project seem like an even bigger gamble. But the critics were blown away by Ratatouille, kids came flocking to theaters and it won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It proved why director Brad Bird is a master at his craft, even if he stumbled earlier this year with Tomorrowland.
