Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's double-feature love letter presents two full-length takes on yesteryear's guilty filmgoing pleasures: the former's Kurt Russell–starring car-revenge romp Death Proof and the latter's sci-fi-action splatterfest Planet Terror, along with spoof trailers for insane would-be drive-in flicks like Machete — which Rodriguez would turn into a real-life franchise. A Vegas buffet of down-and-dirty genre tropes, the twosome's tribute has it all: guns, guts, gratuitous lap dances, tough chicks, T&A, zombies, muscle cars, old-school stunts, and Rose McGowan's go-go dancer replacing her torn-off leg with a machine gun. ("There's gun fetishists and amputee fetishists," McGowan told Rolling Stone in 2007. "And between the two, I'm going to be really popular.") Bummed that you missed the heyday of Forty-Deuce sin-emagoing? Welcome to exploitation's wax museum with a pulse. KG
