Until Eminem, the words ‘white’ and ‘rapper’ didn’t typically go together, but the success of the talented Caucasian MC has opened the door for less traditional hip-hop acts, and Optimus is poised to step right through. Priding himself on blending a variety of genres into his music, Optimus is quickly making a name for himself in his native Los Angeles. While his flows are incisive and stand with any rhyme-master on the scene today, it’s the unique vibe of Optimus’ beats that set the rapper apart. Taking a page from the late Brad Nowell, Optimus blends reggae, rock, funk, and of course, hip-hop, filling the void left by Sublime’s departure. Mixing the sound of Eminem and Sublime, two of the most popular artists in the past decade, Optimus’ music has a broad-reaching appeal, and fans are already beginning to take notice.

Signed to Sessions Entertainment, Optimus’ advance EP is already moving scores of copies in anticipation of this forthcoming album, The Wethaman LP, and the artist is already well established on iTunes in addition to receiving local radio airplay. Not just limited to crafting catchy melodies, Optimus also prides himself on his high-energy live performances. Due to his increasing popularity, he scored a spot opening for The Killers on New Year’s Eve at one of the largest concerts in Los Angeles in addition to regularly playing highly-popular venues. In the tradition of many hip-hop moguls, Optimus already has his eyes on the garment industry and there’s little doubt that after this burgeoning artist hits the mainstream a clothing-line will be quick to follow. With a widely-appealing sound, irrepressible drive, and notoriety that increases everyday, Optimus will be one to watch as the MC continues to be the master of his craft.
