Meg and Diaby Brett Lindenberg
Age: 24Recipe for success in the music industry: Young and attractive? Check. Army of devoted MySpace friends? Yep. Twins? Hey, two out of three ain’t bad.
Indie-rock duo Meg and Dia may fit the bill for next big thing, but don’t lump them in with other sister acts en route to Disney Channel fame. These girls have paid their proverbial dues touring the coffee shop/club circuit of Utah and are poised to catapult in popularity since signing with Warner Brothers in February. Add a large helping of their single “Monster” in rotation on MTV2, an upcoming nation-wide tour, and a dash of that industry buzz; Meg and Dia have concocted their own formula for mainstream success, transforming themselves from open-mic maidens to budding pop princesses.
So discover them now… or from your friends in 3 months.
Meg and Dia Frampton – no relation to Peter – are an eccentric pair. They could easily capitalize on center-fold looks alone, but instead tone down their femininity with thrift-store sweaters and hipster jeans. They might write whimsical ballads touting the afflictions of teenage romance, but instead craft deceptively dark songs like “Cardigan Weather” about murdering an ex-lover, then sewing his body into a mattress so he can feel every notch in the bedpost. Not your typical pop song, but then again Meg and Dia are not your usual blend of pop.
So take heed Olsen twins, find the nearest exit Aly & AJ, because America is about to be introduced to the new generation of songful sisters - only this time we won’t be ashamed to own the album.

Sounds good, but a little dry. Did he mention that they draw a lot of inspiration from these things called books? Meg and Dia both read a lot. They’re a great group.I think if I was able to qualify I could’ve rocked this piece. Good job though!

I learned nothing about the band except for what they look like and what they wear. Oh, and they’re morbid… obviously I need to go get the album right away.
Amanda | 3/7/2007, 5:03 pm EST
It’s good, but others in the ten that “stood out” could have taken the cake. Props, anyways.
Sarah | 3/5/2007, 9:23 pm EST
