Morrowind is sacred ground for fans of the fantasy RPG series The Elder Scrolls, so expect mass hysteria over the arrival of the Morrowind's Vvardenfell locations in the MMO The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind.
The Elder Scrolls Online is on an earlier timeline than the rest of the series, so players will be visiting classic Morrowind sites like Vivec City and Seyda Neen docks a good 700 years before the events of the The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Expect plenty of nods from developer Bethesda to the original storyline though, this is definitely an expansion tailored to the hardcore fans.
It brings everything you'd expect of an expansion, new gear, new quests, new characters and a war bear combat ally. It'll also introduce a new competitive PvP mode the the MMO too, Battlegrounds, an arena style 4v4v4 chance to battle. There will be leaderboards, ranking and swag to win along with the prestige of victory.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will be available globally, on all platforms, on June 6.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was released 15 years ago but it's still the favorite of the series for a large part of the community. A fan project, Skywind, aims to recreate the game in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim through modding. It's currently in development and keeping the community updated with regular videos.
