Watch the Spooky Launch Trailer for 'What Remains of Edith Finch'

The walking simulator inspired by 'One Hundred Years of Solitude', 'The Twilight Zone' and 'Twin Peaks'

Annapurna Interactive

What Remains of Edith Finch is out on PlayStation 4 and PC tomorrow and this launch trailer is a melancholy reminder of why this is a walking simulator worth wandering through.

The game, created by Giant Sparrow, follows Edith Finch as she learns the fates of the rest of the Finch family. Creative director Ian Dallas says weird fiction has been a big influence on the game. "That includes well-known folks like Poe, Lovecraft, Borges and Neil Gaiman along with some new favourites like Lord Dunsany, Jean Ray and Kelly Link," he says. "Other big influences for us include One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, Ugetsu, and with anything I do I’m sure there’s a bit of Alice in Wonderland in there somewhere."

The game has been in development since 2012, first partnering with Sony and now with Annapurna Interactive. Yes, the same Annapurna behind JoyZero Dark Thirty and The Master.
