Tip "T.I." Harris will star in a new live-action movie to promote Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. The 30 minute film, War Within The Cartel, will focus on Marcus, a member of the Santa Blanca cartel that serves as the primary bad-guy organization in the upcoming game.
The movie is being directed by Avi Youabian whose previous work includes directing the season six episode of The Walking Dead "Now," and as an editor on TV dramas Frequency, Constantine and 90210. The script is by Evan Greene, Noam Dromi and Ryan Landels, who between them have written for Tainted Love, Dolphin Tale and Jem and the Holograms, which makes for an interesting background for a film about a Bolivian drug cartel.
"Drug cartels have become an incredibly hot topic in both real-world news and pop culture entertainment," says executive producer Roberto Orci – whose name you've no doubt seen on everything from Transformers and Star Trek to Fringe and current CBS hit Scorpion. "We pride ourselves in making sure that the characters, action and environment of War Within The Cartel looks and feels like something ripped right from the headlines."
Legion of Creatives are also behind the project. The LA studio has worked on this sort of spin-off content before, including a Sleepy Hollow VR experience and a faux-documentary film about the fictional soccer team from the TV show Matador.
War Within The Cartel will stream on Ubisoft’s Twitch channel and then be immediately available on demand via Amazon. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands will be released on March 7.
