'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Will Have Extra, Optional Hyrule

Nintendo announces season pass for its upcoming Switch-seller

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are facing one of those good news/bad news situations. Once they finish the game there will be extra content coming, but the'll have to cough up $19.99 for an Expansion Pack to access it.

So what will that $20 pass get you? First off there will be three new loot chests that appear in the game, two containing items and one containing a (and this isn't a joke) Nintendo Switch logo shirt for Link. Summer will bring a a Cave of Trials challenge and a new hard mode and by the holidays there'll be a new story and a new dungeon to enjoy.

Crucially you can't just pay for one content pack, they won't be on sale individually. It's the $20 bundle and logo shirt or nothing.

Of course extra, paid for content is nothing new in gaming, and Nintendo has sold DLC before, but this is the first time Nintendo has added the option to a Zelda title.

“The world of Hyrule, which we created for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is so large and vibrant that we wanted to offer more for players to experience within it,” says producer Eiji Aonuma. “With this new Expansion Pass, we hope that fans will play, explore and enjoy the game even more.”
