Limbo was an indie game that won the dark hearts of goth kids and hardcore gamers alike with its nightmarish aesthetic and precise puzzles. Now, Dino Patti, one of the key people behind that game has joined Jumpship, a studio working on an intriguing looking game about aliens and global catastrophe. This is Somerville.
Patti started Jumpship with Chris Olsen, who has been working on Somerville since 2014. He began concentrating on the project full time earlier this year, and can often be found sharing snippets of the development process on Twitter. The new studio, and the project, looks awesome and sounds ambitious. "We believe in games as a legitimate and positive endeavor; with potential not only as an entertainment medium, but as a tool to question the human condition," says Jumpship. We strive to support our intent with an unwavering ethic in all facets of the process."
There's no release date for Somerville yet, or even any news about what consoles it will play on, but it's definitely one to watch.
