"Where you see Norman naked, that's something that I very specifically had in mind"

Tribeca Games Festival

This weekend Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, was one of the headline speakers at the new Tribeca Games Festival. During his talk, which you see about from the 5.30 mark, he revealed a few tantalizing details about his mysterious next game, Death Stranding

"In this case, Norman, I was definitely thinking of him when I was creating the character," Kojima says through his translator.

"For the teaser also, where you see Norman naked, that's something that I very specifically had in mind. I wanted people to see first a naked Norman and then from there you will be able to see him in different costumes, different hairstyles, different equipment, and that's as much as I should say today."

Kojima also spoke about his passion for movies and Robert De Niro (who he met at the festival) and described the kind of movie he would like to make given the opportunity. "I love movies, so definitely one day, I would love to," he says. "But right now, it's impossible. At least until I finish Death Stranding, it's impossible."

"I love films too much, maybe if I started making a movie I would never finish it. People tell me, 'Kojima, you're too demanding of movies. You always find something that you'll want to fix and you will never finish a movie.'"
