'Resident Evil' Movie Studio Already Planning Reboot

Turns out 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' wasn't so final

Sony Pictures Entertainment

It looks like Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which was released in January, isn't so final after all.  A reboot of the Resident Evil movie series is already on development. Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, let the news slip to Variety at the Cannes Film Festival.

Constantin Film would know, it owns the rights to the movie franchise and has produced all six of the current run, with Milla Jovovich as the ex-supermodel star of all of them. It wasn't confirmed whether or not she would be back for a reboot.

On the other side of the Resident Evil movie universe, CGI-animated movie Resident Evil: Vendetta will be released this year from director Takanori Tsujimoto and executive producer (and creator of Ju-on and The Grudge) Takashi Shimizu.
