Back on February 26 this year, Kanye West tweeted that he was working on a new album that would be titled TurboGrafx 16, after the HudsonSoft and NEC game console from 1987 that West claimed was "one of my favorite gaming systems when I was a kid."

Now, it looks like West is still mulling video games when he's in the studio. Producer Pete Rock posted a video on Instagram this week of his recent time with West, showing a hand-written list of game names. You only get a very quick glimpse of it, but you can see it here.

If you don't want to squint, here's the full list:

  • Metroid Other
  • Muramasa the Demon Blade
  • New Super Mario Bros
  • No More Heroes 2
  • Okami
  • Pikmin 2
  • Rabbids Go Home
  • Red Steel 2
  • Resident Evil
  • Silent Hill
  • Sin & Punishment 2
  • Sonic Colors
  • Super Mario Galaxy Pt. 1 & Pt. 2
  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

There's speculation that this could be the working tracklist for West's next album, although it's more likely that it's either a list of inspirations or possible sources for samples. A track with beats pulled from Treasure's awesome rail shooter Sin & Punishment 2 would certainly get our interest.

Contrary to speculation on what the album will be called, it's notable that none of these are actually TurboGrafx 16 games. They are in fact all Nintendo Wii games.
