Bandai Namco teased us with an animated trailer for a brand new game last week, and now we know what it is. Code Vein is an RPG about a race of blood drinking creatures called the Revenant.
"Code Vein provides a fresh anime aesthetic and blood-curdling gameplay twists to the popular 3rd-person action RPG genre,” says Bandai Namco's Eric Hartness. “The talented development team at Bandai Namco Studios is creating a tightly crafted experience filled with plenty of challenge that our fans crave along with a smart and engaging story that is sure to draw players deeper into the world of Code Vein.”
You'll play as one of the vampiric Revenant, "tasked to embark into the world with a companion picked from the various residents of Vein to uncover lost memories and an exit out of this new demented reality," according to Bandai Namco.
Details leaked earlier this week from the Japanese gaming press say that the game is being developed by key people from the God Eater team - a Japanese monster hunting series – and that you'll explore different regions including mountains, ice caves and shopping malls. Your companion will also be key to strategy, allowing you do things like place decoys to distract enemies.
The game will be released for consoles in 2018, and as these newly released images show, it looks pretty wild.
