New 'Middle-earth: Shadow of War' Trailer is all About Location, Location, Location

Prepare for carnage that reaches to the borders of Gondor

The latest trailer for the Tolkien-flavored carnage sequel Middle-earth: Shadow of War is all about the massive open world that you'll rampage around, trying to save famous Middle-Earth locations from the dark lord Sauron.

Those locations include the Island of Nurn, Cirith Ungol, Gorgoroth, all the way to the borders of Gondor. Add that to developer Monolith Productions' Nemesis system, which helps you build personal relationships with the orcs you're fighting and enslaving, and you've got potential for some intricate battles. "Something we really wanted to do was not only enable people to have those stories, but also to have goals around them of conquering Mordor and of creating your own bases in these fortresses and then putting your guys in there and defending them," says design director Michael de Plater.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be released on August 22 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. Publisher Warner Bros. has also confirmed that it will be releasing the game on the new Xbox Scorpio.
