Tekken 7 has actually been playable since all the way back in early 2015 when it started appearing in Japanese arcades. An updated version – Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, with extra stages, costumes and items – followed in July 2016, and that's the iteration that Bandai Namco is now releasing for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Confusingly, it's actually the ninth game in the series that started back in 1994, but it doesn't stray too far from the 1-on-1 formula that has made it so popular. In terms of story, this one's even darker than those that have come before – the game's producer, Katsuhiro Harada has said it will provide answers regarding the feud between Heihachi Mishima, his son, Kazuya Mishima and his grandson, Jin Kazama, including the origins of Devil Gene among other Tekken mysteries. If you're planning on playing Tekken 7 on Xbox One, you'll also get a free, backward-compatible copy of Tekken 6 for Xbox 360. If you're on PlayStation 4, you get exclusive costumes and a jukebox mode.
