Superman

Perhaps it's appropriate that the world's most iconic superhero was the first to star in a video game – and he's much friendlier on Atari 2600 than he is in Injustice 2. Remarkably for its time, Superman featured a definable story with a beginning (Lex blows up a bridge), a middle (Superman finds pieces), and an end (Superman reconstructs the bridge). Mostly unheard-of features such as multiple screens, character animations, a health power-up (by way of a kiss from Lois), and a pause feature also wowed gamers when it was released in December 1978 – the year Christopher Reeve suited up as the Man of Steel. That's right – though way off the mark in terms of plot, Superman can be identified as the first ever "movie game."
