Batman

Imagine Ocean Software's pitch for the first ever Batman game: "You're Batman in the Batcave, and you're trying to leave." Batman was essentially an isometric action-puzzler with a very light Dark Knight coat of paint. Though neither the Joker nor the Riddler actually appeared in the game, the manual credits them for abducting Robin and placing the obstacles and henchmen in Batman's way. So, uh…how did they get the access to Batman's top-secret lair to begin with? North American Bat-fans may have felt cheated at the time with the game being exclusive to Europe – and purely as a video game, it's not terrible – but perhaps it's for the best that they waited another couple of years to don the digital cape and cowl.
