During a talk at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco today, Nintendo gave attendees a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the way that this Friday's Breath of the Wild was initially pieced together. Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi showed that an early prototype of the game was built in a 2D 8-bit style so the team could experiment with gameplay ideas. "You can say this is a legitimate prototype of Breath of the Wild," he said. "It’s very nostalgic."Graphic designer Saturo Takizawa also shared some ideas that never made it past the earliest stages of development that included more contemporary approaches to Link including "Biker Link", "Tracksuit Link" and "Musician Link". He also showed an alien invasion concept dubbed The Legend of Zelda Invasion and an idea called Hyrule Wars.
