The Last of Us Part 2 "PlayStation Experience 2016: Reveal"

What to say about probably the most eagerly-awaited (and certainly the most rapturously received) reveal of the year? The four minute cinematic trailer debuted at Sony's PlayStation experience on Dec 5th, with a forest scene that kept people guessing as to the game until all The Last of Us fans lost their minds at the sight of the Fireflies insignia painted over an overgrown stop sign. What followed was an expertly-directed few minutes that re-introduced us to Ellie, with extreme close ups on her shaking hand, tattooed arm, blood-spattered brow and her guitar as she sighs her way through an acoustic version of the haunting "Through the Valley" by Shawn James. As she plays, the camera cuts away to the carnage around her, following the footsteps of Joel, teasing out his reveal until the last possible moment. Fan theories abound already as to exactly who Ellie is referring to when she says, "I'm gonna find, and I'm gonna kill, every last one of them", but our money is on the Fireflies – the rebel group that were last seen trying to cure the zombie plague by turning Ellie into tissue samples.
